KCEOC Community Action Partnership is honored to announce that we have been awarded a $5 million grant from Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos through the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund. This transformative investment will deepen our work to support families experiencing homelessness across southeastern Kentucky.
KCEOC is one of just 32 organizations nationwide selected this year by an independent advisory group of homelessness experts. This recognition reflects our long-standing commitment to helping families in the Cumberland Valley region find stability, safety, and long-term wellbeing.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Day 1 Families Fund for believing in our mission and supporting our efforts to ensure that every family in our community has a safe, stable place to call home.
Expanding Services Across the Cumberland Valley Region
This one-time grant will be used over the next five years to significantly increase our reach and impact throughout the Cumberland Valley Area Development District, including:
- Bell County
- Clay County
- Harlan County
- Jackson County
- Knox County
- Laurel County
- Rockcastle County
- Whitley County
Our goal is clear: no child in our community should ever have to sleep outside.
How the Funding Will Be Used
The Day 1 Families Fund grant will allow KCEOC Community Action Partnership to expand and strengthen the supports available to families experiencing homelessness. Planned initiatives include:
• Increased Outreach Services
Connecting with individuals and families living on the streets to offer immediate support and pathways to stability.
• Rental Assistance
Helping families secure housing through short-term and long-term rental support designed to prevent homelessness and promote family stability.
• Expanded Emergency Shelter Services
Enhancing shelter capacity and resources to ensure families have a safe place to stay while they work toward permanent housing.
These efforts will allow us to serve significantly more families in need throughout our eight-county region.
A Shared Mission of Hope and Housing
We are truly grateful for the Day 1 Families Fund’s partnership as we continue our mission to uplift families, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for lasting change. The support from this grant will have an extraordinary impact on southeast Kentucky for years to come.
Together, we are working to ensure every family has a place to call home—and a future filled with hope.
