Nicholas Mills, a 24 year old high school graduate, found himself unemployed and not sure where to turn. He knew that he wanted a stable job, and training, to make a better life for him. Nicolas was told about the KY Career Center Jobsight. He visited the Career Center and was looking for assistance with securing training for a long-term and stable career. He was able to provide documents needed to determine eligibility for the Out of School Youth Program.

He was very interested in obtaining his CDL to help him gain long term, self-sufficient employment. After meeting with his Career Advisor multiple times, and developing a career plan using discussions and assessments, it was determined that a career as a truck driver would be a suitable for Nicholas.

He was assisted with enrolling into a CDL training class offered in London KY. He officially began his training in May 2018. In June, he successfully completed the training and obtained his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). By July 2018 he secured employment with Schneider and continues to be employed.

When asked about his experience with the KCEOC KY Career Center Nicholas said, “KCEOC gave me a great chance to get something that I always wanted (CDL). Now thanks to them I have what I need to start a career to change my life for the better. I would recommend anyone that needs help to come see them they can help you.”
