KCEOC is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Family Child Advocate in Harlan County. The Family Child Advocate creates, provides and coordinates services and activities with families that foster strength, healthy living and overall well-being.
Job requirements and responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Identify and recruit Head Start eligible families and children, including children with disabilities, foster children and homeless children. Maintain funded enrollment in accordance with enrollment requirement. Provide appropriate follow-up when absences are frequent. Respect diverse values and cultures of the families served. Establish professional roles and boundaries when working with families. Make home visits and contacts with family as required or needed. Facilitate parent/guardian involvement activities. Documentation and record-keeping is a must.
Applicants must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. At minimum a credential of certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field is required. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
